The Heart of a Wolf: Leading With Love
Amy Diehl’s, Accounts Payable Manager, career path started in public accounting, where she first discovered her passion for numbers and processes. After earning her Accounting degree, she moved into Accounts Payable (AP) at John Deere, where she sharpened her skills and developed a deep understanding of finance. Eventually, she found her way to Southwind, where her journey took on new meaning professionally and personally.
From the very beginning, Amy’s leadership style has stood out. She leads with love—choosing to walk alongside her team rather than stand over them. Amy aims to build confidence by encouraging her people to learn, try, and try again until they succeed. Her guiding presence, as well as being a partner, helps others reach their goals without ever losing sight of the bigger picture.
Innovation is one of Amy’s greatest joys. She thrives when given the chance to create and improve, whether it’s rethinking a process or adopting new technology. Medius is a perfect example of how she embraces innovation to better serve her team and the business. For Amy, it’s not just about efficiency—it’s about giving her people tools that help them shine.
At her core, Amy is a servant leader. Everything she does centers around helping others succeed, whether that’s pitching in to finish a project, coaching someone through a challenge, or celebrating her team’s wins. She takes immense pride in Finance, and especially AP, knowing the impact her team has across the organization. When asked how she manages to keep up with everything on her plate, Amy’s answer reflects her no-nonsense drive: “Just do it!”
That relentless work ethic comes from her dad. A hardworking go-getter who always gave his all both at work and at home, he taught Amy the value of giving 110% no matter what. She carries that same spirit into everything she does. And while many people may not know it, Amy was adopted—a fact that fills her with gratitude for the opportunity she was given by her amazing parents. Their love and support inspire her to make the most of every chance in front of her and to pour into others the way they poured into her.
Outside of work, Amy’s “why” is clear and unwavering, her family. Her husband, Justin, and their kids are the center of her world. She lights up when she talks about them, and her pride in the life they’ve built together is unwavering. She credits Southwind with playing a huge role in that story, as it gave her family the opportunity to buy a home after Justin’s career brought them here. To Amy, the long hours and hard work are worth it because they help build a future for the people she loves most.
Those who know Amy best describe her as genuine, passionate, and endlessly giving. She is someone who pours into others without hesitation and finds joy in the little things. Want to brighten her day? Bring her a Pepsi, keep in mind her favorite color is purple. When asked what animal she would be, Amy said she would be a wolf. Strong, loyal, and always leading her pack.
Amy is more than a leader, she’s a builder of people. She invests in those around her, celebrates their successes, and supports them through challenges. Her passion, heart for service, and unwavering love for her family and team make her an example of what true leadership looks like. At Southwind, Amy isn’t just leading with numbers—she’s leading with love.
